We are currently recruiting for a Transport Team Manager to support the operation at our Screwfix site in Stafford. This is a chance to be part of a fast-paced and challenging area of work to assist the Transport Operations Manager.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working weekly rotating shifts including 06:00 till 14:00 & 14:00 till 22:00, Monday to Friday. However, we do ask for some flexibility, this is logistics after all!

  • You’ll be paid a salary of up to £33,100 per annum and receive 31 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Manage a team of up to 120 Drivers and administrators, overseeing the delivery of cost-effective daily transport plans and supporting driver despatch through TMS to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain high operational standards by overseeing vehicle defects and reporting, ensuring accurate documentation and strong operational control across transport activities.
  • Drive a proactive Health & Safety culture by monitoring compliance, identifying risks, and taking timely corrective actions to ensure a safe working environment for all colleagues on shift.
  • Lead on people and service delivery, including investigations, disciplinary processes, absence management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure a smooth, high-quality transport operation.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Having pre-existing management experience is advantageous alongside having any existing Transport knowledge.
  • As well as this, you will be an organized, driven individual with the ability to work alone and as a team effectively.
  • You’ll also be an effective communicator and able to develop good working relationships at all levels within the Transport Team and able to converse confidently with our customer.
  • A levelheaded attitude is needed in this pressurized environment as well as being computer literate.
  • Transport Management CPC (national and international) preferred.
