SLR have a fantastic new opportunity for an Apprentice to join our collaborative and growing Transport Engineering team.

The role

Your key duties will involve supporting new colleagues in the preparation of detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports on a variety of projects. Alongside this, you will also have the opportunity to gain experience and take responsibility for project management, budgeting, producing bills of quantities, and costings.

  • Provide assurance that scheme designs comply with specification and agreed programme
  • Work to ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations and CDM requirements
  • Alongside colleagues, ensure designs are assessed for environmental impacts

About you

We are looking for an Apprentice to develop consulting experience around the design and management of the Section 278/38 process, as well as:

  • Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Manual for Streets
  • Ability to engage with colleagues and and build towards conducting effective negotiations with client, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of CAD and ability to to learn Vehicle Tracking, PDS Sign design and Civil 3D

You will be enrolled onto Civil Engineering (Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship) | University of Salford and therefore you must meet Salford's entry requirements of 104 - 112 points including mathematics at grade C. (Numerate science at grade C). A Pass in the practical element of science A levels must be achieved.
