Main duties of the job
Introduction
The Travelwise Team are responsible for supporting service users of staff car parks and patient visitor car parks. This is a busy and fast-paced environment involving traditional face-to-face customer service and office administration. The team would welcome applications from those who feel they have the skills and abilities to undertake this role.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Administration supervisor and Travelwise Office Manager, the postholder will replace a current vacancy in the team. This role involves extensive use of Microsoft and Generic software to administer car parking services at Southampton General Hospital sites. Working in a small team, the postholder will also be working in a direct customer service environment.
Person Specification (Summary)
GCSE in Maths & English and a good general knowledge of administrative work procedures with experience of cash handling, working in a front-line customer role. Good IT skills across a range of packages with good communication skills and able to demonstrate The Trust Values.

Responsibilities
Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
- Assist in the provision of an effective administrative service.
- Work in conjunction with colleagues, service users and stakeholders to provide an efficient administrative support service.
- Ensure that a high standard of service is provided in all responsibilities using tact, discretion and sensitivity whilst ensuring positive promotion of UHS Trust values and vision to provide an excellent customer service to colleagues’ patients, relatives/carers and to external agencies.

What Experience/Skills Are Needed
Based across core hours between 08:30 and 17:00 Monday to Friday, the successful candidate would need to demonstrate:
- GCSE in Maths and English
- Good knowledge across a range of administrative work procedures
- Experience in handling cash
- Working with the public in a front-line customer-facing role
- Significant experience in dealing with customers daily
- Good IT skills across a range of software packages
- Administrative and organisational experience
- Excellent telephone manner
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Calm under pressure
- Polite, Sympathetic, patient and diplomatic
- Flexibility – able to work flexibly to accommodate peaks and troughs of activity

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential criteria
- Good standard of education with literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE pass level 4-9 or equivalent standard
- NVQ 2 diploma or equivalent experience
- Experience of working in a customer led environment
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages
- Evidence of computer literacy
Desirable criteria
- Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
- Proficient in the use of hospital computerised patient systems
- Call handling experience
- Experience of working shifts
