Sutton Sea Cadets

Sutton Sea Cadets, a registered charity, and youth organisation is seeking a Treasurer to join our Unit Management Team, (UMT), as a Trustee, to collectively, provide support to the running of the Unit.

What difference will you make?

As stated, Sutton Sea Cadets is a youth organisation with the aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, they learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of themselves.

To achieve this, we must provide a safe environment, a financially viable unit, provision of equipment and a forward thinking strategy. The role of Treasurer is pivotal to all this being achieved.

This is a voluntary role and an ideal opportunity for someone, whether retired, and looking for a new activity, or working with some spare time, and who is keen to work in the community.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What are we looking for?

As well as the skills and experience needed to be a Treasurer, we are looking for someone who simply likes the sound of being a Trustee and working with a small group (7) of volunteers to help manage our Sea Cadet Unit. Willing to play a full role, contributing to our plans and future strategy, supporting our fundraising campaigns with financial support and advice. Very much a team player but also working closely with the Unit Chair on such matters as financial policy & procedures. Equally, a good working relationship will be needed with each of the team members, made up of Marketing & Comms, Fundraising, Facilities and Secretary as well as the Commanding Officer (head of the uniformed staff).
