Treasurer (Trustee)

Newcastle Foodbank

Voluntary Board Appointment | Newcastle upon Tyne

Use your financial leadership to help transform lives across Newcastle

Outstanding organisations deserve outstanding governance.

Newcastle Foodbank is seeking an experienced finance professional to join its Board of Trustees as Treasurer at an important point in the charity's continued development.

This is an opportunity to contribute your professional expertise to an organisation that is not only providing emergency support to thousands of people each year, but is also tackling the underlying causes of food poverty through welfare advice, community partnerships and long-term intervention programmes.

Working alongside an experienced and committed Board, you will help ensure the charity remains financially resilient, strategically ambitious and governed to the very highest standards.

About Newcastle Foodbank

Newcastle Foodbank has become one of the city's most respected charities, supporting thousands of individuals and families experiencing financial hardship each year.

While emergency food provision remains a vital part of its work, the organisation's ambition extends much further. Through Community Pantries, welfare advice and the award-winning Pathways Out of Hunger programme, Newcastle Foodbank is committed to reducing long-term dependency on foodbanks and helping people build more secure futures.

Its work is rooted in dignity, compassion and practical support, delivered by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers and partners across Newcastle.

The Opportunity

The Treasurer is a key member of the Board, providing strategic financial leadership, independent oversight and robust governance across the organisation.

Working closely with the Chair, Chief Executive and fellow Trustees, you will help shape strategic decision-making while ensuring the charity maintains the highest standards of financial stewardship, accountability and regulatory compliance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
