Sowena have been retained by a large, PE-backed services group based in Lancashire to appoint a Treasury Accountant as they continue to strengthen their group finance function during an exciting phase of growth.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified ACCA/CIMA accountant, or an experienced finance professional, looking to develop their career within a broad treasury and finance role. Working closely with an experienced Group Financial Controller and CFO, you'll gain exposure across treasury, cash flow forecasting, management accounting support, VAT and wider group finance activities, whilst playing a key role in supporting a fast-growing acquisitive business.

This position offers excellent exposure to senior stakeholders and provides the opportunity to influence financial processes, support strategic decision-making and develop within a high-performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the Group's rolling 13-week cash flow forecast, providing weekly reporting to senior management.
  • Report actual cash performance against forecast, investigating and analysing key variances.
  • Identify opportunities to improve working capital and support initiatives to enhance cash generation across the Group.
  • Partner with operational and finance teams to gain a thorough understanding of cash cycles, improving the accuracy of forecasting.
  • Oversee daily cash balance reporting across multiple entities.
  • Manage Group liquidity, ensuring funds are transferred efficiently between bank accounts where required.
  • Maintain relationships with external lenders, supporting monthly reporting, interest calculations, covenant compliance and wider financing requirements.
  • Support foreign exchange activities, including monitoring currency exposure and assisting with hedging where appropriate.
  • Prepare VAT returns for several Group entities and assist with wider statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller during the month-end and year-end close process, assisting with management accounting activities where required.
  • Facilitate the bureau process for supplier payments on behalf of clients.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller and CFO with ad hoc analysis, reporting and strategic finance projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, streamline processes and drive efficiencies across the finance function.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
