Treasury & Funding Senior Accountant – 14-Month Fixed-Term Contract
We’re looking for a Treasury & Funding Senior Accountant to join our Treasury team on a 14-month fixed-term contract.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in managing over £100 million of internal commercial lending and overseeing the £1.6 billion funds ledger, directly influencing how funding is allocated across the organisation. Your work will shape key financial decisions, including:
- Reviewing and challenging investment proposals
- Allocating funding to high-impact projects
- Monitoring performance to ensure expected returns are delivered

Location & Working Arrangements
Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, with an expectation of in-office attendance. However, you’ll have flexibility in where you work at other times.
You’ll be required to work at a National Trust location for 40% of your working week. This will be discussed in detail during the interview.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll play a central role in:

Delivering the Commercial Loan programme, including:
- Reviewing and challenging business cases for new projects
- Agreeing funding allocations
- Monitoring performance against expectations
- Ensuring loans are accurately administered, reported, and aligned to project outcomes

Overseeing the £1.6 billion funds ledger, including:
- Supervising Assistant Accountants
- Improving processes to optimise the use and accessibility of restricted funds
Additionally, you’ll contribute to:
- Cash management and forecasting
- Stakeholder engagement, building strong relationships across the organisation
- Developing new approaches and initiatives to meet future strategic priorities
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a qualified accountant with:
- Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to:
- Challenge, influence, and engage senior stakeholders
- Appraise business cases and analyse investments
- Assess financial assumptions and identify value-adding opportunities

- Experience in:
- Analytical skills and managing complex data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Systems skills, including finance systems and Microsoft Office
