Location/Shift
Harvard – 4600 Harvard Ave., Newburgh Heights, OH 44105 Tuesday – Saturday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, drives and assists with truck operations and performance of work.
- Keeps daily written records as required by the Division of Park Maintenance and Properties.
- Must possess knowledge of Cleveland roads.
- Operates motorized equipment and assigned vehicles within the Division.
- Assists with ground maintenance functions as needed.
- Operates the truck’s loading, unloading, and compaction mechanisms.
- Complements with dump trucks (manual or automatic) with hydraulic lifts and compression functions.
- Ensures regular preventative maintenance of assigned vehicle:
- Checking oil levels
- Inspecting tires
- Verifying water levels
- Monitoring fuel and fuel-level indicators
- Follows all operation and safety policies, participating in training classes and exams.
- Adheres to safety equipment usage per Division policy.

- Maintains a neat and clean workstation, particularly focusing on the supply and finished materials area.
- Responsible for scheduling and maintenance of vehicles not excluded by breakfast/Lunch break schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A valid Ohio Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Must maintain a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds regularly.
- Capacity and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Current designations as City of Cleveland Employee — Seasonal Snow Removal Vehicle Operator.
Greater detail (highly relevant qualifications):
- Requires possessing CDL Type A (only), with training and endorsements to operate combinations with a gross weight rating of 26,001 pounds or greater, where the towed vehicle exceeds 10,000 pounds (e.g., Tractor-Trailers, Truck & Trailer Combinations, Tank Vehicles).
- Must have a valid Air Brake Endorsement.
- Requires four years of full-time paid experience as a CDL A driver operating waste collection vehicles or straight trucks.
