Clinical Fellowships in Renal Transplant and Vascular Access Surgery

About the Role

Applications are invited for two highly motivated clinical fellows (SpR Level) in renal transplant and vascular access surgery.

These posts are ideal for applicants seeking extensive experience in renal transplantation and vascular access surgery. Candidates with previous experience in general and vascular surgery will be advantageously considered.

Successful applicants will provide excellence in high-quality care to one of the largest dialysis and transplant cohorts in the UK, under the direct supervision of a dedicated team of highly motivated consultant surgeons.

You will be exposed to:

  • Vast aspects of advanced dialysis access and transplant surgery
  • Relevant medical management of complex patients
  • 1:5 rotational on-call coverage in an EWTD-compliant environment

Dutchment Responsibilities

The appointed fellows will conduct daily work including:

  • Routinely participating in ward rounds with the consultant surgeon and nephrologist (at least daily)
  • Running clinic reviews, including:
    • Pre-transplant assessments
    • Post-transplant acute clinics
    • Dialysis (peritoneal dialysis, PD & vascular) access clinics
    • Pre-assessment clinics

The fellowship includes broad learning opportunities, working alongside:

  • A team of 7 consultant surgeons
  • 5 middle-grade doctors -.member of Barts NHS Trust, UK’s largest renal and transplant service, at The Royal London Hospital
  • One of the largest dialysis cohorts in the region, offering exceptional teaching and training.
