Join one of the South East’s most vibrant paediatric centres as a Trust Doctor (ST1–3) at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. You’ll be part of a dynamic, supportive team committed to excellent clinical care, collaboration and continuous learning.

This role offers an ideal foundation for doctors aiming to enter paediatric training, strengthen acute care skills or explore subspecialties. You’ll gain broad clinical exposure within a modern, forward-thinking children’s hospital known for innovation, strong senior support and a genuinely educational culture.

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment alongside colleagues from varied backgrounds, developing confidence in managing acutely unwell children while building skills in communication, teamwork and clinical decision-making. Clinical duties

The clinical duties of the post include the day-to-day care of the patients who are seen in the Children’s Emergency Department and inpatient medical wards, Critical Care Unit and Day Case Unit.

You will work a combination of day shifts, long days, night shifts and weekends as part of a European Working Time Directive compliant rota of approximately 13 full-time equivalent people.

The post holder accepts that they will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with their colleagues, both senior and junior. While it has been agreed between the professions that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptions and you should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
