Senior Fellow in Palliative Medicine
Location: Churchill Hospital, Oxford / Katharine House Hospice, Banbury (Commitment to work across Trust sites and in the community as required)
About the Role
The successful candidate will join the Palliative Medicine team as a Senior Fellow, based at Sobell House (Churchill Hospital) and Katharine House Hospice (Banbury). They will contribute to one or more areas of the service, including:
- Specialist inpatient care (28-bed units for intensive symptom management and end-of-life care for adults with life-limiting conditions).
- Hospital Palliative Care Team (consultative service for patients at John Radcliffe, Churchill, Nuffield Orthopaedic, or Horton Hospitals).
- Community Palliative Care Team (symptom control, advanced care planning for patients in their homes across Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire—includes rapid-response hub shifts).
- Participation in the on-call rota alongside Specialty Registrars and Specialty Doctors.

- Delivering specialist palliative care across inpatient and community settings.
- Collaboration with primary care, acute clinicians, and allied health professionals.
- Teaching and mentoring doctors-in-training (including those in Palliative Medicine and General Practice).
- Supporting quality improvement initiatives in end-of-life care.
- Contributing to research and the Living Well programme.
- Liaising with bereavement, lymphoedema, and supportive care teams at two sites (Headington, Oxford and Banbury).
- Engaging with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, chaplains, and social workers.

The Palliative Medicine team comprises:
- 9 Consultants (Dr Victoria Bradley, Prof Bee Wee, Dr Charlie Bond, Dr Matthew Carey, Dr Tim Harrison, Dr Mary Miller, Dr Victoria Hedges, Dr Ruth Ting, Dr Fiona Lindsay)
- 1 Associate Specialist (Dr Julia Bartley)
- 6 Specialty Doctors
- Doctors in training (Palliative Medicine & General Practice)
- A virtual multidisciplinary team (nurses, physiotherapists, music therapists, psychologists, volunteers, etc.).
