Trust Manager
About The Role
We are seeking a detail-focused and client-driven Trust Manager to join our Private Client Legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to get involved in managing a diverse portfolio of trusts, working closely with experienced fee-earners.
In this role, you will support the day-to-day administration of trusts, helping ensure everything runs smoothly and is delivered to a high standard. You will be involved across the full trust lifecycle, from core administration through to governance and financial management, making sure work is completed accurately and on time.
You will also play an important role in keeping everything compliant with UK legislation, tax requirements, and professional standards. Alongside this, you’ll have the chance to build relationships with clients and colleagues, develop your technical knowledge, and become a trusted part of the team.
Key Responsibilities Include
Trust setup and lifecycle administration
Prepare and execute trust deeds and other documents and liaise with clients, beneficiaries, trustees, and third parties. Manage day-to-day administration of trusts, including distributions, capital and income accounts, and record-keeping.

Compliance and governance
Ensure trust activities comply with relevant legislation (including the Trustee Act, CGT, IHT, and anti-money laundering standards). Maintain accurate regulatory and internal compliance records; support KYC/AML checks for new and ongoing matters. Assist with regulatory filings (e.g. Automatic Exchange of Information, FATCA/CRS and the Trust Registration Service), annual accounts, and tax-related reporting, including trust and estate tax returns and inheritance tax returns
Financial management
Manage banking arrangements, liaising with investment managers, and cash flow forecasting for trust funds. Liaise with accountants and tax advisers to prepare and file trust tax returns, annual accounts, and statutory documents.
Client service
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, beneficiaries, trustees, professional advisers, and internal teams. Provide timely, accurate, and clear communications on matters, including statutory deadlines, distributions, and administrative changes. Support client meetings, prepare agendas and meeting notes, and follow up on action items.

Our ideal person
A strong background in UK trust administration or related probate/estate management (2+ years preferred). Solid knowledge of UK trust law, taxation (IHT, CGT, income tax), and regulatory requirements. Experience with trust accounting, banking, investments, and financial reporting. Excellent organisational and project management skills with close attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex matters clearly to clients.
