Trust SHO in General Surgery

Job Opportunities within General Surgery

1. Trust Junior Doctor (FY2 equivalent) – Ealing Hospital

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trust Junior Doctor (1.0 WTE), with an equivalent to FY2 level, to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Department of General Surgery at Ealing Hospital.

About the Role

You will participate in a varied and rewarding on-call rota, covering:

  • Long working days
  • Weekends
  • Night duty shifts

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to inpatient wards and outpatient services
  • Observe surgical cases in main theatres and day surgery
  • participate in high-quality clinical training and skill development

This role requires a commitment to:

  • A regular shift pattern, including night shifts
  • An average workload of 40 hours per week

Our department is consistently committed to excellence in teaching and training, allowing junior doctors to progress professionally—previous holders have secured National Training Numbers in General Surgery.

2. Senior SHO – General Surgery (Ealing Hospital)

Join our busy and welcoming General Surgery Department at Ealing Hospital as a Senior SHO, offering a great opportunity in a supportive and forward-thinking team dedicated to high-quality patient care.

About the Department

The team consists of eight consultant surgeons, specialising in:

  • Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Surgery
  • General Surgical Services

This role provides valuable hands-on experience within a high-volume service, recognised for:

  • Leading one of the highest volumes of “hot cholecystectomies” in the UK
  • Offering excellent exposure to acute and operative care

Ideal Candidate

If you are eager to further develop your clinical and surgical skills within a supportive training environment, this post is well-suited to you.

Minimum requirement: 4+ months of NHS experience
