British Heart Foundation – Trustee Chair of Audit & Risk Committee

About the Organisation

For over 60 years, British Heart Foundation (BHF) has led groundbreaking research to save and improve millions of lives. Despite achievements, heart and circulatory diseases remain the world’s biggest killers, affecting millions in the UK alone.

BHF advances its impact through long-term research investment, currently funding over £460 million across +700 active projects. Powered by volunteers, partners, and scientists, the charity aims for a world where everyone has a healthier heart for longer. As the UK’s largest charity retailer with 650+ stores, 4,000+ employees, and 20,000+ volunteers, BHF is seeking an exceptional leader to join its Board of Trustees as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.

The Role

The position is a critical governance role supporting the charity’s mission and integrating with the Chair of Trustees, Chief Executive, and Chief Financial Officer. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading financial oversight, audit, and risk management.
  • Providing independent and constructive challenge to audit and risk processes.
  • Ensuring alignment between the Board and Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Driving the BHF’s governance strategy and contributing to broader trustee functions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
