Trustee with Accounting Expertise – Walk N Talk 4 Mental Health

Help us shape strategy, oversee finances, and ensure our charity makes the biggest possible impact for people’s mental mental health.

What difference will you make?

As a trustee accountant, you will ensure Walk N Talk 4 Mental Health is financially secure, empowering us to expand and support more individuals. Your expertise will guide our growth, helping us create safe spaces for meaningful conversations, tackle stigma, and strengthen community resilience. By contributing your skills, you’ll enable this grassroots charity to flourish and bring hope where it’s needed most.


What are we looking for?

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A recognised background in accounting, finance, or related professional experience
  • Ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to non-financial trustees
  • Understanding of financial controls, risk management, and governance
  • Confidence in supporting annual accounts, budgets, and financial planning

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with charity finance, SORP, or trustee responsibilities (training provided)
  • Experience within the voluntary or community sector
  • Knowledge of fundraising, grant management, or sustainability

  • Collaborative, with strong communication skills to work effectively with a diverse board

What You’ll Do

  • Provide financial oversight and ensure good governance
  • Assist with budgeting, reporting, and financial planning
  • Help maximise our impact with efficient fund allocation
  • Contribute to strategic decisions as part of a supportive board

Ideal Candidate

  • Professional experience in accounting, finance, or related fields
  • Previous exposure to charity finance or governance (helpful but not mandatory)
  • A commitment to our mission of reducing stigma and improving mental health
  • Collaborative, passionate, and eager to share expertise

This is a voluntary role, offering the chance to make a lasting difference in a thriving charity, alongside a dedicated team.

Location: Hampshire (mix of in-person and online meetings).
