We are looking for someone who combines any educational expertise with a genuine commitment to opportunity, equity and young people’s futures.

You may currently work in education, have retired from school leadership, or bring governance experience from a secondary school.

What difference will you make?

Alma Mater Education (AME) is not simply supporting a school — it is helping build a model for sustainable rural education that enables young people to thrive academically, socially and economically within their own communities.

As an Education Trustee, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of a high-performing secondary school in rural Ghana that is already achieving exceptional outcomes despite significant structural challenges. Wioso Senior High School consistently achieves strong academic results, including a 98.4% WASSCE pass rate in 2025, while serving students from communities where access to quality secondary education, stable infrastructure and wider opportunities remains limited.

The impact of this role extends far beyond exam results.

AME’s model combines academic excellence with boarding, nutrition, pastoral support, sustainability education and practical learning through agriculture. Students are not only prepared to pass exams, but to progress into university, vocational training, employment and leadership within their communities. Girls’ participation continues to grow strongly, and increasing numbers of students are entering pathways such as midwifery, agriculture and higher education.

The Education Trustee will help shape the long-term quality and direction of this work. Your experience and insight can strengthen educational strategy, school improvement, safeguarding, student wellbeing, teacher development and wider pathways for young people. You will also help support the development of partnerships between AME and UK schools and educational networks, creating opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, mentoring and shared learning.

Importantly, this role offers the chance to contribute to a growing organisation at a pivotal stage of development. Over the next three years, AME aims to strengthen governance, expand facilities, increase student capacity towards 600 students, deepen career and vocational pathways, and further establish itself as a leading example of integrated rural education and sustainable development in Ghana.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
