Trustee

Voluntary Appointment | Initial Three-Year Term

About the Aleto Foundation

Founded by Michael Eboda and Sir Kenneth Olisa, the Aleto Foundation exists to share success with tomorrow’s leaders.

For fifteen years, Aleto has identified high-potential young people from tough-reality backgrounds — individuals whose ability and leadership potential might otherwise remain unrealised — and equipped them with the skills, confidence and networks necessary to thrive. There are now over 2,000 Aleto alumni who have benefited from the development, networking and ongoing support of the Foundation as they progress their lives and careers. Aleto’s model goes beyond widening access. We cultivate capability, resilience and ambition, enabling our participants not merely to progress but to excel as leaders. In this respect, Aleto’s work mirrors a long-standing truth: leadership can be developed through structured support, challenge and opportunity.

We work in partnership with forward-thinking employers who understand that broadening opportunity is not simply a matter of social justice but a source of organisational strength and competitive advantage.

Aleto is led by Chief Executive David Villa-Clarke BEM and governed by a committed and experienced Board of Trustees.

The Opportunity

As the Foundation approaches its 15th anniversary and enters its next phase of development, four Trustees are retiring from the Board. We are therefore seeking new Trustees who share belief in Aleto’s mission and who can contribute skills and experience from:

  • Finance, risk management and commercial strategy
  • Education and talent development
  • Fundraising and stakeholder engagement
  • HR and people management

Role Purpose

Trustees serve as custodians of Aleto’s purpose, integrity and long-term sustainability. The Board has three objectives, namely, to ensure that the charity:

  • has a credible strategy;
  • is executing the strategy to the best of its abilities in the circumstances; and
  • complies with the regulations and laws to which it is subject.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Working collegiately with fellow Trustees and the executive team, Trustees ensure delivery of the objectives by providing strategic oversight, constructive challenge and responsible governance. The role is one of stewardship rather than operational management.

Trustee Responsibilities

Trustees of the Aleto Foundation carry the formal duties set out in charity law and articulated by the Charity Commission. Collectively, the Board is responsible for ensuring that the Foundation is well governed, financially sound and faithful to its mission. In particular, Trustees are responsible for:

  1. Ensuring the Foundation pursues its charitable purpose Safeguarding Aleto’s mission and ensuring that all activities align clearly with its charitable objectives.
  2. Acting in the Foundation’s best interests Exercising independent judgement, contributing thoughtfully to Board deliberations and making decisions solely in the interests of the Foundation and its beneficiaries.
  3. Managing the Foundation’s resources responsibly Overseeing financial stewardship, ensuring appropriate systems of control and accountability, and supporting long-term organisational resilience.
  4. Exercising reasonable care, skill and diligence Applying professional expertise and experience appropriately, while recognising the collective nature of Board responsibility.
  5. Ensuring accountability and compliance Overseeing the Foundation’s compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, including reporting requirements and governance standards.
  6. Safeguarding the Foundation’s reputation and values Acting as ambassadors for Aleto, supporting its leadership and protecting the credibility and public trust upon which its work depends.

Trustees fulfil these responsibilities through active participation in Board meetings, membership of one or more sub-committees, engagement in strategic discussions and support for the Chief Executive and executive team.
