Link Learning Communities CIC is a Sheffield-based not-for-profit organisation that delivers creative projects in schools and communities. We work alongside schools, families, artists, museums, galleries, archives and community organisations to create projects that are meaningful, ambitious and shaped by children's ideas. As we enter a new exciting period of growth, we're looking for people to help shape the future of our organisation and expand opportunities for children and young people across Sheffield.

Our activities include:

  • After-school art clubs
  • Community arts projects
  • Photography and heritage projects with Sheffield Archives
  • Public exhibitions celebrating children's creativity
  • Homework Club provision supporting children facing disadvantage
  • Music technology projects in Sheffield Children's Hospital

Role Description

Our trustees help us:

  • Set strategic direction
  • Ensure strong governance
  • Monitor financial sustainability
  • Support effective decision making
  • Build partnerships and connections
  • Act as ambassadors for the organisation

Trustees are not responsible for day-to-day delivery but play a vital role in supporting the organisation's long-term success.

We currently anticipate:

  • Four board meetings each year
  • Occasional support and advice between meetings
  • Attendance at selected events where possible

Trustees are appointed for an initial one-year term. The role is voluntary, although reasonable expenses can be reimbursed.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance or accountancy
  • Education leadership
  • Arts, culture or heritage
  • Fundraising
  • Community development
  • Governance and leadership
