Join HOPS as a Trustee
Help shape holistic wellbeing support for carers, older people, and isolated individuals in Sunderland. We're seeking passionate people to strengthen our board and support the growth and strategic direction of our charity.
What difference will you make?
Our Trustees play a very important role in our charity. They know they are giving something back and striving to have a positive impact. We’re looking for someone who is committed to our mission of supporting community wellbeing and who understands the responsibilities of being a trustee. Key characteristics include reliability, good communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. We value trustees who are thoughtful, open-minded, and willing to ask questions or offer guidance when needed.
While specific professional expertise is welcome, it’s just as important to us that trustees bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in the work we do and the people we support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
