Join the Board of The Leicester Counselling Centre and help shape strategy, support good governance, and ensure affordable counselling remains available across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
What Difference Will You Make?
As a member of our board, you will help us deliver our vital service to clients seeking affordable long-term counselling. NHS provision is extremely limited, and we are one of a very few local charities providing such a service.
As a trustee, you will play a critical part in ensuring that we can function effectively. You will use your skills, experience, wisdom, and judgement to shape and support our service as it continues to evolve and respond to local need.
What Are We Looking For?
Our trustees play a vital role in shaping strategy, supporting good governance, and providing effective oversight. We are looking for people who:
- Have an interest in mental health and wellbeing and a commitment to providing an effective and affordable service to individual clients.
- Can work as a member of a team.
- Live in or have connections with our area.
- Can commit time to working on specific initiatives, as well as the wider business of board meetings.
- Have local connections that may support our fundraising efforts.
- May have skills and experience in governance, safeguarding, fundraising, change management, and mental health service management.
- May have been a former service user of a counselling service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
