We are seeking someone with
Experience at a senior level across one or more charities. A firm grasp of HR, people culture, and service delivery. The ability to offer ~2 hours pm support to our staff team.
What difference will you make?
As a trustee with solid third sector experience you can provide the board with perspective and insight into some of the familiar standards, policies, expectations and methods of monitoring that are expected from charities - and understand the difference between what is possible for a £25M charity and one that runs on a shoestring.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a significant background at a senior level in the voluntary sector, with a good understanding of how charities operate and are governed; and be able to share that perspective and insights with the Board.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

It would be great if you could bring experience of one or more of the following
Insight and leadership of people and culture, HR and/or service delivery and operations. A passion for building inclusive, effective organisations. Previous experience as a Trustee or board member. Ideally having chaired a sub committee, board or similar. The ability to offer occasional support to the staff team during the working day (roughly two hours per month), providing guidance, insight or a sounding board when helpful. Lived experience of stammering — whether personally or through close connection — so that the voices of people who stammer are at the heart of our work.
