About the Role
The exceptional London Museum of Water & Steam is seeking passionate individuals to join its Board of Trustees.
Our Museum is housed in a stunning Victorian pumping station in West London and home to some of the world’s most significant working steam engines. Our collections tell the inspiring story of how clean water transformed London—but we’re not just preserving history.
We believe in using our working industrial heritage to engage modern audiences with urgent questions around:
- Water supply & sustainability
- Clean-energy innovation
- Industrial legacy in a low-carbon future

Our Board plays a critical role in steering this innovation. We’re seeking Trustees who combine professional expertise with bold, forward-thinking perspectives—people who are excited by the Museum’s direction and eager to help shape its future.
Key Responsibilities
Trustees will contribute to strategic direction through:
- Participating in Board meetings
- Staying informed on Museum updates
- Supporting governance decisions
- Optional involvement in committees (e.g., Finance, Audit}
Navigation
Trustees don’t need a background in steam engines—but they do need: ✅ Relevant professional experience (preferred: Finance & Law, HR, or related fields) ✅ A passion for creativity in cultural heritage ✅ Willingness to volunteer and guide change for an ambitious organisation
