Trustees - HACT

Location: London / Hybrid

Time commitment: Approximately 1 day per month

Remuneration: Unpaid (reasonable expenses reimbursed)


Join us in driving transformational change in social housing

HACT is the charity of the social housing sector, working in partnership with housing providers and organisations across the UK to deliver insight-led innovation that improves lives and strengthens communities.

With over 65 years of impact, HACT sits at the heart of the sector - driving collaboration, innovation and social value to support better outcomes for residents.

As we move into our next phase of growth, we are seeking to appoint three new Trustees to strengthen our Board and support HACT's continued evolution.


About the opportunity

As a Trustee, you will play a critical role in shaping HACT's future direction and impact across the social housing sector. You will provide strategic leadership, independent oversight and constructive challenge, while championing HACT's mission and values.

This is an opportunity to contribute at board level to an organisation that is driving innovation in areas including social value, digital insight platforms and sector-wide collaboration.


What we are looking for

We are particularly interested in individuals who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Property / Asset Management
    • Strategic understanding of housing assets, retrofit and asset optimisation
    • Experience supporting large-scale housing or built environment portfolios
  • Strategy / Sector Leadership from Scotland or Wales
    • Senior leadership or board-level experience within housing
    • Ability to contribute to organisational positioning, growth and long-term impact
  • Digital / SaaS / Technology
    • Experience with digital products, platforms or SaaS environments
    • Insight into how data, technology and innovation can drive sector transformation

About the role

All Trustees share collective responsibility for:

  • Setting HACT's strategic direction and ensuring long-term sustainability
  • Providing oversight and constructive challenge to the executive team
  • Ensuring strong governance, financial oversight and risk management
  • Championing equity, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of HACT's work

You will also act as an ambassador for HACT, contributing your expertise to support the organisation's growth and impact.

Time commitment & tenure

  • Approximately one day per month
  • Quarterly Board meetings, committee participation and occasional external engagement
  • Terms of up to three years (with a maximum of three consecutive terms)
