We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisation’s growth, we are seeking a Trust and Estates Tax Associate Director or Partner to join our growing Tax team. This is a full-time permanent position that will likely be based in our Winchester office, however, the nature of the role offers flexibility around location. The role is likely to involve travel between our offices as you will be a key technical resource offering a high level of technical support across the business. The role will also offer hybrid (three days in the office and up to two days working at home) and flexible working options (flexing your hours on different days to suit your lifestyle).
The Role
This is a highly specialist and strategic leadership role requiring deep technical expertise in Trusts & Estates, with responsibility for leading a complex client portfolio, shaping the firm’s advisory offering in this area, building trusted senior client relationships, and acting as a recognised expert both internally and in the market.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- To lead and grow a complex portfolio of Trusts & Estates clients, acting as a trusted adviser on highly technical and sensitive matters.
- To drive the delivery of high-value trust and estate advisory services, bringing deep technical expertise and strong commercial judgement.
- To play a key role in shaping and developing the firm’s Trusts & Estates offering, identifying opportunities to enhance client service and expand the practice.
- To build and maintain strong senior client relationships, providing confidence and clarity on complex technical issues and long-term planning matters.
- To act as a recognised technical authority within the business, offering strategic guidance and support to colleagues across offices.
- To oversee complex trust compliance work, including trust accounts, tax returns, and Inheritance Tax returns, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
- To contribute to business development activity, helping to win new work, strengthen key referrer relationships, and raise the profile of the firm’s specialist expertise in the market.
- To maintain and promote exceptional technical standards across both advisory and compliance services, while supporting and developing others within the wider team.

About You
The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following skills, experience, and professional credibility:
- STEP and/or CTA qualification, with a minimum of 8 years’ post-qualified experience in Trusts & Estates.
- Deep and demonstrable technical expertise in Trusts & Estates, with strong specialist knowledge across trust taxation, estate planning, Inheritance Tax, and the wider legal and fiscal considerations affecting private clients.
- A proven track record of advising on complex, high-value, and sensitive technical matters, with the ability to apply sound judgement and deliver clear, practical advice in challenging circumstances.
- Experience of leading and developing a client portfolio, with the credibility to build trusted relationships with high-value clients and professional referrers.
- Strong leadership capability, with experience of supporting, developing, and influencing colleagues across teams or offices.
- Commercial awareness and business development experience, with the ability to identify opportunities, win new work, and contribute to the growth of a specialist service line.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the confidence to engage at a senior level internally and externally.
- Extensive experience of overseeing complex trust compliance work to a high technical standard, including trust accounts, trust tax returns, and Inheritance Tax reporting, with a strong focus on accuracy, risk management, and quality.
