Job Description
National Youth Choir of Scotland (known as NYCOS) is looking to appoint a dynamic and motivated individual to the role of Trusts & Foundations Manager. Working closely with the Chief Executive, Founder & Artistic Director and colleagues across the organisation, this post plays a central role in securing the funding that enables thousands of children and young people across Scotland to experience the life changing power of singing.
You will be a persuasive storyteller with exceptional writing skills, excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people. You may already be an experienced trusts fundraiser or someone with transferable skills looking to move into the charity sector. Either way, you will be our lead Trusts & Foundations contact, researching prospects, crafting compelling applications, managing relationships and reporting activity. This role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, developing persuasive funding proposals and working collaboratively to grow an ambitious fundraising programme.
Job Requirements
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with an ability to convey detailed information in a concise and compelling way.
- Ability to work proactively and constructively with senior and junior colleagues to develop high quality proposals and creative campaigns.
- Experience in establishing and stewarding productive relationships with funders and/or other external stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise and meet regular deadlines whilst working under pressure.
- Experience of budget development and management.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of people with our work.
- Exceptional influencing, negotiation and diplomacy skills.
- Ability to think and operate strategically and provide flexible solutions.
- Excellent IT skills including use of CRM.

Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of NYCOS's Trusts & Foundations fundraising programme, working closely with colleagues across the organisation to secure funding for artistic and creative learning programmes.
- Research funding opportunities and prepare compelling applications, detailed budgets and supporting materials for Trusts & Foundations, alongside selected statutory and corporate funders.
- Maintain productive relationships with funders through timely reports, acknowledgements, invitations and stewardship activity.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop creative storytelling, evaluation material and case studies that demonstrate the impact of NYCOS's work.
- Identify and develop new funding opportunities aligned with artistic and creative learning programmes.
- Represent NYCOS at networking opportunities, developing existing and identifying new institutional relationships.
- Maintain accurate grant records, monitor income and reporting deadlines using the organisation's CRM.
- Manage budgets, prepare financial information and work closely with the Finance Team to monitor incoming grant payments.
- Produce reports and presentations for the Board of Trustees and senior leadership as required.
Location and Hours
- Flexible with potential for distance and home working. Must be able to travel regularly to the office at Savoy House, Glasgow and occasionally around Scotland.
- Preferably full time (35 hours per week), although we would consider a part time position of 4 days per week (0.8 FTE) for the right candidate.
- Working hours are flexible, between 8.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, with one hour per day for lunch. This role will involve some evening and weekend work as required (NYCOS operates a Time Off in Lieu Policy).

Salary and Benefits
- £30,000–£35,000 per annum (pro rata if applicable), with an employer pension contribution of 5% and 34 days' annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays).
