About the Role

Are you a seasoned construction professional with a strong safety focus and technical leadership experience? We are looking for a Tunnelling Pit Boss to manage teams, enforce strict safety protocols, and ensure seamless operations on our high-profile projects.

Responsibilities

As Tunnelling Pit Boss, you will:

  • Lead and supervise Gangers and Lead Miners, ensuring productivity and safety
  • Oversee day-to-day lifting operations, adhering to the Appointed Person (Lifting) directives
  • Control and regulate workplace transport within assigned areas
  • Ensure proper provision and usage of PPE according to site rules and procedures
  • Maintain accurate written records and daily site diaries
  • Coordinate and manage the timely supply of materials and equipment
  • Provide specialised expert advice, support, and on-site guidance for all tunnelling works

To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory position, with strong emphasis on health and safety compliance
  • CSCS Site Supervisors’ qualification (required)
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme)
  • Extensive tunnelling experience on previous projects
