Accounts Receivable Controller
Location: Watford Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) Salary: £31,379 – £33,030 (£31,380–£34,000 cited locally) Working Pattern: Hybrid (minimum 2 days/week at Watford office or 40% office-based)
About the Role
There’s an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Accounts Receivable team as Controller. In this role, you’ll custody a ledger of customer accounts, ensuring consistency in cash control, minimising risk and maximising efficiency within our debt strategies. You’ll interface with customer Spend Management Portals (e.g., Coupa) and utilise tools like Salesforce and NetSuite.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll reconcile accounts daily, resolve aged debt proactively, and optimize our collections approach. The role thrives on precision, but also encourages both strong problem-solving and creative autonomy around query resolution.
Key Objectives:
- Manage and prioritise your allocated customer base to minimize aged debt and improve cash flow.
- Leverage data and modern systems to streamline reporting and predictive actions.
- Provide insights that inform collections strategies and mitigate risk throughout the credit cycle.
- Foster collaboration with Sales and Customer Experts to deliver a smooth experience.
Full Responsibilities
- Cash Reconciliation: Processing daily receivables, analysing discrepancies, and conducting reconciliations.
- Receipt Collection: Ensuring clients adhere to agreed terms and resolving missing or late payments.
- Customer Engagement: Partnering with customers and internal departments to resolve query escalations per SLA.
- Financial Procedures:
- Production of invoices, statements, and correspondence.
- Processing credit/debit notes for daily variance management.
- Recording transactional entries with system and compliance mandates.
- Direct Payment Authorization: Managing monthly P2P payment batches via direct debit.
- Portal Utilisation: Coupa, Salesforce, and NetSuite data entry and payment workflow management.
- Risk Mitigation: Communicating with Sales teams to pre-flag high-risk accounts.
- Ad-hoc Support: Contributing to finance-wide projects as needed.

Skills & Qualifications
Technical Competencies (Recommended/Preferred)
- Financial Systems: Proficient with Salesforce/NetSuite, Coupa, and robust spreadsheets (V-LOOKUP, advanced Excel formulas).
- Software Operating: Strong understanding of accounting platforms and regular software refresh.
- Payment Processes: Experience with batch processing and querying.
- Portals/ESI/SOF: Familiarity with client portal integrations for automated accruals and acceptance.
Required Experience
- Proven Accounts Receivable experience managing direct customer responsibility.
- Analytical mindset, able to harmonize transactional work with strategic insights.
- Thorough attention to detail with less reliance on manual checks.
- Communication clarity, written and verbal, to bridge gaps in links with Customers and internal partners.
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise workloads under diverse pressure.
- Data-oriented and comfortable interpreting equilibrium breakdowns.
