About the Role at EFWS
At EFWS (Education and Family Wellbeing Service), we are seeking compassionate, dedicated Teachers, Mentors, Tutors, and SEN specialists based in the Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole area. Our mission is to support children and young people who have disengaged from mainstream education, helping them reconnect with learning, rebuild confidence, and unlock a brighter future.
We seek individuals who can see beyond behaviour and recognise that education isn’t just about grades—it’s about restoring agency, self-worth, and a genuine love for learning.
Key Responsibilities

Personalised support: Deliver high-quality 1:1 or small-group sessions tailored to students with diverse needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
- Other complex learning barriers

Curriculum delivery: Implement the EFWS curriculum, covering:
- GCSEs
- Functional Skills
- ASDAN (director-delivered programmes for young people)
Adapt lessons to engage reluctant learners and motivate disengaged students.
- Create a supportive environment: Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging setting that promotes:
- Independent learning skills
- Resilience and self-esteem

Progress tracking: Use assessment tools to monitor student development and provide empowering, constructive feedback.

Collaborative practice: Work within a co-production model, valuing contributions from:
- Families
- Stakeholders
- External agencies
- The young people themselves
What We Are Looking For
Teachers
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (highly desirable)
- If you are studying towards QTS, we welcome your application
Mentors/Tutors
- Relevant experience in:
- Youth work
- Coaching
- Subject-specific tutoring
SEN & SEMH Experience
- Strong understanding of:
- Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Ability to adapt teaching methods for students facing barriers to learning
Curriculum & Engagement
- Knowledge of curriculum planning and engaging withdrawn/disengaged learners
Tech Savviness
- Comfortable using digital tools and online platforms to:
- Enhance learning experiences
- Maintain engagement with reluctant students
