Job Opportunity: Adult Education Teacher thurrock Adult Community College

Position Details

Salary: £24.30 – £27.33 per hour (pay range subject to increase for 2024/25) Grade: #TUTLEC (1 to 4, based on qualifications and experience) Contract: Permanent Hours: Variable (term-time only)

Thurrock Adult Community College is the local authority’s adult education provider, delivering courses across Thurrock, with its main base in Grays’ Old Court House.


Role Summary

You will:

  • Plan and deliver adult education courses, including planning lessons, creating resources, teaching, and marking learners’ work with feedback.
  • Teach both basic English & Maths, and ideally have an ESOL teaching specialism (CELTA/TESOL preferred, or commitment to obtain within 12 months).

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging adult education content tailored to local needs.
  • Evaluate learners’ progress and provide supportive developmental feedback.
  • Maintain up-to-date teaching resources and course materials.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies—an **Enhanced DBS check with学子 the Children’s Barred List required.

Requirements

  • Teaching Adults, Level 3 Award in Education & Training (minimum).
  • Level 2 in English & Maths (for teaching).
  • Experience teaching adult learners, with ESOL specialism desirable.
  • Commitment to working towards CELTA/TEFL if not already qualified.

Position-Specific

  • Term-time contract – hours flexible depending on demand.
  • Fixed end date of 1st March 2026 for applications, with interviewing dates to be confirmed.
