Manchester Law School Tutor Opportunity
Manchester Law School is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Tutor to join our dynamic academic community. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the development of future legal professionals by delivering an outstanding student experience while contributing to one of the School's strategic priority areas: Mooting & Advocacy or Pro Bono.

About The Role
As a Tutor, you will provide high-quality teaching support, academic guidance, and pastoral assistance to undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will contribute to teaching, assessment, student engagement initiatives, and a range of co-curricular activities designed to enrich the student experience.
Working closely with academic colleagues and professional services teams, you will help create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment while contributing to the continued success of Manchester Law School.
Alongside teaching responsibilities, you will take a lead role in supporting one of two specialist areas.
Mooting & Advocacy
Responsibilities
You will work alongside the Mooting Academic Lead to coordinate and develop the Law School's highly regarded mooting and advocacy programme. Responsibilities include:
- Organising internal and external mooting competitions
- Supporting students participating in competitions
- Coordinating recruitment and selection for co-curricular activities
- Planning annual advocacy events and workshops
- Developing advocacy training and learning resources
- Managing competition logistics, including judges, venues, travel, and IT
- Supporting the growth of the Mooting Academy
- Promoting mooting achievements through internal and external communications
Pro Bono
Working closely with the Law School's Pro Bono leadership team, you will help develop and deliver meaningful legal volunteering opportunities that enhance student employability while supporting local communities.

Responsibilities Include
- Supporting the delivery of Pro Bono activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
- Assisting with training workshops and public legal education initiatives
- Working with external legal partners and community organisations
- Supporting evaluation and impact projects
- Helping to build an active Pro Bono student community
- Promoting Pro Bono opportunities and achievements
Key Responsibilities
You Will
- Deliver engaging workshops and practical learning sessions
- Support student learning, progression, and wellbeing
- Assess student work and provide constructive feedback
- Contribute to teaching, assessment, and curriculum delivery
- Support programme teams with student engagement initiatives
- Organise student events, degree shows, and co-curricular activities
- Support Student Voice initiatives and bespoke study support events
- Maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners
- Contribute to recruitment events, Open Days, and outreach activities
- Engage in scholarly activity and continuous professional development
About You
You will have:
Essential
- An undergraduate degree in Law or equivalent qualification
- Strong knowledge of legal education, particularly in Mooting & Advocacy or Pro Bono
- Experience of teaching, coaching, or supporting student learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience of mooting, advocacy, or client-facing legal information work
- A commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- A strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for two years commencing on 1 September 2026.
