Tutor – English and Maths
Are you passionate about teaching English and maths to adults, apprentices, and interns, helping them to achieve their education, career, and life goals? Then come and join Plymouth’s fastest-growing education and training provider, committed to delivering outstanding outcomes and making a positive impact on learners, employers, and the wider community. This role will involve traveling to venues away from the Coburg House Learning Centre and working in the Plymouth travel to work area.
At On Course South West, we want to deliver the highest quality teaching and learning that enables our learners to achieve and progress in so many different ways. We are seeking an experienced English and maths Tutor to teach in this core curriculum area. You will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality teaching and learning for adult learners as well as apprentices and interns, alongside the professional and employability programmes.
You will join a dedicated team and be fully supported by our curriculum and quality management team. You’ll collaborate with colleagues and partners to build a provision that prioritizes progression, quality, and impact.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching, Training, and Assessment
- Deliver qualifications and learning up to Level 2.
- Conduct initial assessments to determine learners’ starting points.
- Assess learner progress and provide regular, constructive feedback and improvement targets.
- Deliver inclusive, high-quality learning experiences and actively promote equality and diversity.
- Adhere to internal quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of assessment.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development.
Qualifications And Experience
- Qualified to deliver English and maths up to Level 2.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in maths and English.
- Proven experience in delivering English and maths qualifications.
- Familiarity with e-learning systems.
- Passionate about education and committed to raising standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of funding streams and requirements for delivery.
