Senior Yarn Twister Operator – Wide Vertical Twister

Primary Purpose
Operate, maintain, and tend wide vertical twister machines to twist yarn into the manufacturing process, ensuring consistent production quality and adherence to safety standards.
Key responsibilities include setting up equipment, monitoring production efficiency, maintaining quality control, and troubleshooting common mechanical issues.

Responsibilities
Core Operations
- Machine Setup & Maintenance
- Prepare creels by handling and organizing single or double-ply yarn packages efficiently.
- Load yarn onto twister frames and reposition buggies as required for smooth production.
- Production Execution
- Thread yarn ends, operate spindle setups, and swiftly repair breakouts without causing production downtime.
- Transfer twisted yarn packages from the conveyor to buggies/bulk containers (comes doff').
- Quality & Monitoring
- Perform daily quality checks using blacklights to detect UV-reactive defects in yarn.
- Monitor production output for stability, efficiency, and uptime.
- Clean and maintain spindles to prevent jamming/choking and ensure optimal machine performance.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company safety protocols.
- Complete approved on-the-job and safety training modules.
- Spot any safety hazards and report them immediately to supervision.
- Keep work areas clean and tidy to meet housekeeping standards.
Support & Adaptability
- Assist in training new hires where applicable and aid colleagues in emergencies.
- Complete additional duties assigned by leadership, as required.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (preferred).
- No formal academic requirements beyond education—practical manufacturing experience strongly valued.
- Previous experience in yarn manufacturing, textile processing, or related labor positions.
Training Requirements
- Successful completion of all mandatory on-the-job training (included in orientation).
- Competing contextually reducing emergencies or workplace hazards training.
- All company safety training, including anonymously documented participationics.

Competencies & Skills
Technical Skills
- Operate in a team-based manufacturing environment.
- Perform basic math calculations (e.g., dividing time standards, measuring efficiency).
- Maintain precision under pressure, especially in repetitive or fast-paced production.
Problem-Solving
- Address standardized issues (e.g., yarn breaks, knotting, slow production).
- Interpret spec sheets and equipment manuals for day-to-day troubleshooting.
Physical & Safety Requirements
- Physical demands meet the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) guidelines for the role:
- Frequently lifting up to 50+ pounds.
- Sustained bending, squatting, and standing, standing/walking long hours.
- Precision work with hands sensitive to heat, cold, dust, and mild vibration.
- Exposure to watchful eye hazards (particulate dust, fumes, variable temps).
- Collaboration responsibilities (e.g., musculoskeletal workload on different days).
