We don’t just believe in better. We make it happen. Better content. Better products. And better careers.

Working in Tech, Product or Data at Sky is about building the next and the new. From broadband to broadcast, streaming to mobile, Sky Stream to Sky Glass, we never stand still. We optimise and innovate. We turn big ideas into the products, content and services millions of people love. And we do it all right here at Sky.

The Origination & Distribution Support team is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of Sky's Broadcast Playout, MCR and Live Events Hub systems. Supporting some of the UK's largest live sporting, news and entertainment events, the team provides technical support across traditional broadcast infrastructure, IP networks and cloud-based services.

About the Role

As a Broadcast Support Engineer, you will provide technical support across a broad range of broadcast systems that underpin Sky's playout and live content operations.

Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you'll be responsible for fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance and operational support, ensuring critical broadcast services remain available around the clock.

What you'll do

  • Provide world-class first-line technical support and timely fault diagnosis for Sky's Broadcast Playout platforms, Live Events Hub and MCR.
  • Work within one of two engineering teams comprising Broadcast Support Engineers and Senior Broadcast Support Engineers, operating an AP shift rota.
  • Perform logical and methodical fault finding across a diverse range of broadcast and IT systems within a large-scale playout and live production environment.
  • Accurately record incidents, maintenance activities and technical changes within the ticketing system, driving issues through to resolution.
  • Respond to operational support requests, perform routine maintenance and complete proactive health checks across supported systems.
  • Support both traditional SDI-based broadcast infrastructure and modern IP, virtualised and cloud-based broadcast workflows.
  • Collaborate with operational teams, engineering colleagues and third-party vendors to maintain high levels of service availability and operational resilience.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement by identifying recurring issues, recommending improvements and maintaining technical documentation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
