Job Description

As part of our continued growth at AJ Bell, we are recruiting for a UI Designer to join our Design System team and help shape the future of our award-winning digital platforms. Reporting to the Design System Lead, you will work across our D2C (direct-to-consumer) AJ Bell platform to deliver a large-scale design system across mobile and app.

We are looking for a designer with a minimum of 4/5 years' experience in UX/UI and a love for UI. This role is largely focused on the creation and ongoing maintenance of design system components and asset libraries. It requires a good understanding on how components work, with experience handing over designs to development as a must-have. We’re looking for designers who will enjoy focusing on the details but also maintain a macro-level appreciation for how the entire design system behaves.

There’s an exciting rebrand underway, alongside a redesign of the AJ Bell app and website. You will play a key role in shaping our design standards for D2C, working hands-on with UX designers, developers, and product managers to champion the design system and encourage its adoption.

What you’ll do:

  • Hands-on design: create design system components in Figma, demonstrating a strong understanding of interaction design and UI best practices.
  • UI specialist: create high-quality, responsive UI designs that balance usability and accessibility with delightful user experiences.
  • Maintain and manage the design system: produce component documentation and manage design tokens.
  • Design system thinking: approach situations through a design systems lens, considering the reusability of design elements and contribute to our documentation.
  • Design ownership and influence: contribute to the design system strategy across our platforms and support decision-making at the team level.
  • Collaboration: collaborate cross-functionally and play a key role in nurturing team collaboration.
  • Decision making: make informed decisions during the design process where you balance user needs, business considerations, accessibility compliance, and use research as a guide.
  • Communication: effectively communicate your ideas and rationale to team members and stakeholders.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
