About The Role
We are seeking an experienced UI Developer to join our CDD (Customer Due Diligence) technology team within Group Economic Crime at Barclays. This role is pivotal in supporting the development and maintenance of our new CDD platform, as well as migrating functionalities from existing applications to the new system. As a UI Developer, you will be integral to creating user interfaces that are both visually appealing and highly functional, driving an exceptional user experience in Know Your Customer (KYC) processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend developers, to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions that streamline business processes and enhance automation capabilities. The role offers flexibility to be based in either Glasgow or Knutsford, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to a critical aspect of Barclays’ strategic initiatives in financial crime prevention.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in front-end development, particularly with React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and HTML5. A solid understanding of React Hooks, component lifecycle, and state management tools such as Redux or Context API is essential. Experience in developing responsive UI designs that function seamlessly across different devices and browsers is required. Knowledge of RESTful API integration, Micro Frontend Architecture, and front-end design patterns will be highly valued. Familiarity with version control systems like Git and Agile development methodologies is necessary. Additional skills that are advantageous include experience with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, ELK, and App Dynamics, as well as an understanding of application performance optimization, accessibility standards, and scalable application architecture. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
- Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements, develop solutions, and ensure seamless integration with backend services.
- Participating actively in code reviews and fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Staying abreast of industry trends and contributing to the organization’s technology communities to promote innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ensuring adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Implementing effective unit testing, optimizing application performance, and ensuring compliance with accessibility and cross-browser compatibility standards.
- Supporting the migration and enhancement of existing applications, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to the overall success of the CDD platform development initiatives.
