About the Role
Advanced Couplings Ltd., part of the Ideal Tridon Group, is a global leader in flow control solutions for the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and Data Centre sectors. We are seeking a skilled Buyer to join our dynamic team. The UK Buyer will be primarily responsible for managing stock levels, placing and progressing orders, and ensuring that all purchasing activities are efficiently executed using the UK SAP system. You will continue to work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth procurement processes, ensure timely order fulfillment, and support customer requirements. Your role is vital to maintaining the flow of materials and ensuring that ACL Hygienic's purchasing operations meet the needs of the Sales and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Stock Level Monitoring:
- Monitor stock levels in line with parameters established by the Purchasing Manager, ensuring timely replenishment of goods.
- Identify potential stock shortages and take appropriate action to avoid disruptions to production and sales.
- Order Placement and Progression:
- Place purchase orders with suppliers for goods required, ensuring that all order details are accurately captured in the SAP system.
- Progress orders through the system, ensuring that suppliers are fulfilling orders as per agreed terms, and providing updates as needed.
- Supplier Liaison and Query Resolution:
- Assist suppliers with any queries they may have regarding placed orders.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the ACL team to find solutions and resolve any issues promptly.
- Order Acknowledgement Verification:
- Review order acknowledgements from suppliers to ensure that they match the requirements specified in the purchase orders (POs).
- Address any discrepancies between the order acknowledgements and the POs in a timely manner.
- Order Monitoring and Prioritization:
- Monitor the progress of existing orders and prioritize them based on urgency and agreed lead times, ensuring that critical orders are expedited when necessary.
- Maintain communication with suppliers to ensure adherence to schedules and resolve any delays promptly.
- Support to Sales Team:
- Assist the Sales team with pricing information, lead times, and availability of parts needed for customer orders.
- Provide accurate and timely information on parts availability to assist in customer quotations and order fulfillment.
- System Maintenance and Accuracy:
- Ensure that the SAP system accurately reflects due dates for the arrival of Purchase Orders (POs), keeping internal teams informed of expected delivery timelines.
- Regularly update system records to maintain accuracy in stock levels, order statuses, and expected arrival dates.
- Expediting Orders:
- Expedite orders where necessary to ensure on-time delivery to customers, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to resolve any supply chain issues.
- Take appropriate action to mitigate delays and prevent disruption to customer commitments.
- Communication with Sales Team:
- Proactively communicate with the Sales team regarding any delays or issues with incoming goods that may affect the promised delivery dates to customers.
- Keep the Sales team updated on the status of orders to facilitate smooth customer communication.

Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CIPS, APICS) are a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing roles, preferably in raw materials. Experience managing multi-country procurement operations, including UK, Ireland, and Denmark.
- Skills: Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Proficiency in inventory management and planning tools (e.g., ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle). Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Effective leadership and communication skills.
