UK Corporate Banking Mid-Corp Trade Director

Job Description: Vice President Trade & Working Capital

Purpose of the Role

To generate revenue and promote the bank’s diverse Trade & Working Capital product and service offerings to various customer segments.


Accountabilities

  • Client and Market Engagement

    • Identification of potential customers, analysing their needs, preferences, and monitoring emerging market trends and competitor strategies.
    • Creation of detailed profiles for target customer segments, outlining requirements, needs, and pain points to tailor effective sales and product recommendations.
  • Customer Relationship Management

    • Maintenance of strong relationships with existing and potential clients through high-quality support, query resolution, trust-building, and alignment with financial goals.
    • Understanding of product features, benefits, risks, compliance requirements, and strategic features of Trade & Working Capital offerings.
  • Sales and Strategic Influence

    • Development of sales pitches and proposals that highlight the value proposition of the bank’s offerings, converting leads into profitable clients.
    • Deployment of negotiation skills to secure mutually beneficial terms.
  • Market and Performance Analysis

    • Collection and analysis of customer feedback to develop reports for internal stakeholders, supporting informed product development and sales strategies.
    • Monitoring of lead conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, and other key performance metrics to assess effectiveness and identify growth opportunities.

Team Responsibility

Part of UK Corporate Banking, supporting clients (annual turnover > £6.5m) with working capital facilities and risk-mitigation instruments for importers and exporters. Focus on trust-based client relationships across multiple industry sectors.

Key Objectives

  • Grow and retain client portfolios, optimising support and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Directors/Bankers to enhance overall advocacy.
  • Proactively interact with clients and cross-functional teams to position Barclays as the ‘go-to’ bank.

  • Deep Trade & Working Capital domain expertise.

  • Strong credit risk and policy acumen.

  • Tenacity in relationship-building and driving results.

  • Experience

    • Prolific track record in client-facing roles across organisational tiers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry leadership knowledge of Corporate Banking.
