UK Corporate Tax Associate
Finance – UK Corporate Tax Associate

THE ROLE: UK Corporate Tax Associate
You will play a critical role in the Global Tax Team in the UK, supporting day-to-day corporation tax compliance, governance, and advisory work, while enhancing tax efficiency in a global, fast-moving environment. This position requires close collaboration between Finance, Legal, and broader business areas to ensure accurate tax filings and effective tax strategy execution.
Daily Responsibilities
Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare, review, and submit UK Corporation Tax Returns (CT600).
- Manage the compliance calendar, including deadlines (e.g., Qualifying Corporation Tax Payment/Surcharge (QIPs)).
Accounting & Disclosures
- Support the tax accounting cycle (including current/foreign currency valuation, deferred tax provisions, and IFRS/US GAAP disclosures).
Risk Assessment & Opportunities
- Analyse capital allowances, R&D tax credits, group reliefs, loss utilisation, and corporate interest restrictions (CIR).
- Translate complex tax positions into understandable guidance for non-tax specialists.

Tax Governance & HMRC Engagement
- Support tax governance systems (Travel & Substance, Corporate Criminal Offence requirements).
- Maintain the HMRC relationship (e.g., Business Relationship Representative+, BRR+), ensuring alignment with the published tax strategy.
- Manage and respond to HMRC enquiries, coordinating with external specialists and internal stakeholders.
Advisory Activities
- Provide daily advisory on withholding taxes, transfer pricing, cross-border transactions, and downsizing requests under the EUSAT.
- Coach employees and contribute to developing the tax strategy roadmap.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate will bring this mix of technical, interpersonal, and strategic skills to this role:
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in UK corporate tax, gained in either accountancy practice or in-house.
- In-depth understanding of UK corporation tax legislation, including payment mechanisms.
- Proficient in Excel, including advanced functions for analysis and reporting.
- Strong command of written and verbal English (this is our company language).
- Ability to operate efficiently in a pressure-cooker environment, handling layered deadlines effectively.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and diplomatic—experts at navigating ambiguity and stakeholder expectations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Professional qualification in progress or completed: ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent.
- Previous experience at a Big Four accounting firm or in a large multinational group tax team.
- Familiarity with tax risk framework (e.g., SAO, CCO) and awareness of current developments (e.g., OECD Pillar Two).
