UK Financial Controller – London

About the Role
OLIVER is seeking a UK Financial Controller based in London. This critical role will oversee the efficient and timely delivery of month-end financial reporting across the UK region while standardising, simplifying, and continuously improving financial processes to enhance accuracy, reduce cycle times, and support data-driven decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in month-end closing processes, financial reporting, and process optimisation, with a track record in driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Reporting
- Lead and manage the monthly close process for the UK region, ensuring timely submission in line with Group reporting timelines.
- Review and validate financial data, guaranteeing completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Collaborate with regional management accountants to consolidate financial information from all UK entities.
- Ensure completion and review of monthly/quarterly balance sheets, including accruals, prepayments, pensions, and VATaccounts.

Process Standardisation & Simplification
- Identify, document, and implement best practices for month-end close procedures, standardising reporting across the UK region.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce month-end close cycle times, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve operational efficiency.
- Align processes with FP&A, Group Finance, and Tax teams to maintain consistency.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Compile regional reporting packs, providing variance analysis, insights, and actionable commentary for senior management.
- Support ad-hoc reporting requests and analysis as required.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Strengthen internal controls surrounding financial reporting to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Continuously assess and enhance financial processes to minimise risk and maximise accuracy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with regional/ local finance teams, Group Finance, FP&A, and business partners to foster collaboration.
- Support initiatives ensuring all stakeholders adhere to standardised processes.
Automation & Efficiency
- Identify opportunities for automation of financial reporting processes to streamline month-end close operations.
- Provide recommendations based on feedback from reporting cycles.
Audit Support
- Assist the FD in delivering year-end audit information, liaising with both internal and external auditors.
- Ensure timely provision of audit-ready financial data to stakeholders.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
- Audit
- Financial control
- Month-end reporting
- Process improvement
- Holding a Senior Finance Manager or FC role
- Proven ability to streamline financial processes and drive standardisation across multiple entities/countries.
- Strong expertise in:
- Financial reporting
- Month-end close procedures
- Variance analysis
- Fluency in NetSuite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Outstanding communication skills, able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Line management experience: minimum 3 years managing a team of 3+ people.
- Bonus: Experience with process automation or digital tool implementation.
