UK Financial Controller – London

The Role: UK Financial Controller
Location: London
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Reporting
- Lead and oversee the monthly close process for the UK region, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Review and validate financial data against internal policies and external regulations.
- Collaborate with regional management accountants to submit financial information on time.
- Complete and review monthly/quarterly balance sheets, including accruals, prepayments, pensions, and VAT adjustments.
Process Standardisation & Improvement
- Standardise and simplify month-end close procedures across all UK entities.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, reducing cycle times and improving operational efficiency.
- Work with FP&A, group finance, and tax teams for cohesive process alignment.

Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Compile regional reporting packs with variance analysis and actionable insights for senior management.
- Support ad-hoc reporting requests and key performance commentary.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Strengthen financial reporting controls, ensuring compliance with policies and minimising risk.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with regional teams, group finance, FP&A, and business stakeholders to unify process standards.
Month-End Automation
- Identify automation opportunities within financial reporting to enhance efficiency.
Audit Support
- Assist the FD in delivering year-end audit information.
- Liaise with auditors and internal stakeholders to provide documentation and insights.
Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with minimum 5 years post-qualification experience.

Experience & Skills
- 5+ years in financial control, audit, month-end reporting, and process improvement.
- Experience in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager role.
- Proven track record in standardising financial processes across multiple entities/countries.
- Strong financial reporting, month-end close procedural expertise, and variance analysis skills.
- NetSuite experience and advanced Excel proficiency.
- Line management experience—minimum 3 years managing a team of 3+.
- Plus: Experience with process automation or digital tools.
