Job Summary
As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will use your analytical expertise to manage, lead and contribute to the provision of complex and wide-ranging analysis to support the NCA’s mission from either a tactical, strategic, or operational perspective.
Job Description
The UKFIU Strategic & Statistical Analysis team conducts intelligence analysis and assessment utilizing SARs to enhance the intelligence picture of money laundering, terrorist finance, and wider SOC threats.
The team also conducts analysis of SARs to support the UKFIU to carry out its functions effectively through analysis of the volume, composition, and quality of SAR reporting. Through collaboration with UKFIU Engagement functions, this analysis supports the aim of improving the quality of SAR reporting to increase the intelligence value of SARs and improve operational opportunities for law enforcement.
Duties & Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
- Provide support and guidance through the reviewing and quality assurance of analytical outputs, to ensure the work provided is of the highest possible standard, supports decision-making, and makes use of appropriate sources and analytical tools.
Manage and Support
- Manage and coordinate the workload of analysts and other staff.
- Provide technical and professional advice and guidance to staff in the effective use and promotion of analysis.
Lead and Coordinate
- Lead and support projects to analyse and exploit SARs to provide strategic insight, deliver operational impact, and improve the quality of submissions from reporters.
Network
- Interact with a wide range of government, law enforcement, UK intelligence community, private, and third sector partners to meet business objectives.
Research and Analyse
- Research and analyse SARs to produce strategic intelligence assessments, intelligence briefs, and baseline analysis reports of the volume, composition, and quality of SARs to support the function of the UKFIU, the SAR wider regime, and wider law enforcement.
Manage Communication of Analytical Outputs
- Manage the delivery of communication relating to analytical outputs, including presentations and verbal or written briefings.

- Understand and demonstrate the importance of subject-matter expertise in the provision of assessed reporting.

Qualifications
To be eligible to apply, all candidates must have:
- Formal intelligence analysis training - Suitable examples include - National Intelligence Analysis Training (NIAT), Government Intelligence Analyst Training (GIAT), Defence Intelligence Analyst Module (DIAM), New Analyst Programme (NAP), NCA Analyst Foundation 1, Intelligence Analyst (Level 4) Apprenticeship & Forensic Analytics Intelligence Analyst course
AND At Least One Of The Below:
- IPP Intelligence Analyst or IPP Senior Intelligence Analyst certification; OR
- Equivalent experience gained from performing Intelligence Analyst or Senior Intelligence Analyst functions

Candidates must have formal intelligence analysis training. In addition, candidates can apply with current IPP Intelligence Analyst or IPP Senior Intelligence Analyst certification or with equivalent IPP Intelligence Analysis or Senior Intelligence Analyst experience.
If applying with equivalent experience, candidates will need to demonstrate their equivalent experience within their CV.
Candidates will need to pass this part of the application to be progressed to full sift. Candidates who are deemed ineligible will not be progressed and the remaining parts of the application will not be assessed.
Candidates who are applying without IPP accreditation will be required to obtain IPP whilst in role.

New entrants to the NCA receive 26 days annual leave, rising to 31 on completion of 5 years continuous service, plus 8 bank holidays.
If qualifying criteria is met, new joiners from UK Police Forces or the UK Intelligence Community (UKIC) will have service with those employers taken into account for continuous service purposes for annual leave entitlement only, this will be up to a maximum of 31 days leave (including 1 privilege day).
