Location: Glasgow - with UK travel as required
Sauter UK is a growing group of businesses, with a combined turnover of around £170M and 800 colleagues across the UK. As we continue to grow and bring our businesses closer together, we’re looking for an experienced UK Group HR Manager to help shape, lead and strengthen our HR approach across the Group.
Our preference is for this role to be based from our Glasgow office, although we're happy to consider other locations for the right person.
This is a broad and influential role, combining strategic HR, operational delivery and people management. You’ll work closely with Managing Directors, senior leaders and managers across the business, while also leading and supporting the HR team to deliver a consistent, professional and people-focused service.
The Role
As UK Group HR Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering our people strategy and supporting the business through growth, change and integration. You’ll provide trusted HR guidance across the Group, support managers with people matters, lead key HR projects and help improve how we attract, develop, engage and retain our people.
A big focus of the role will be bringing greater consistency across our businesses, including aligning policies where appropriate, supporting the integration of acquisitions and helping move the Group towards a single HR software platform.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships and leading a team, while still being hands-on when needed.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the UK HR team, providing direction, guidance and day-to-day support.
- Partner with Managing Directors and senior leaders on workforce planning, organisational change and business growth.
- Provide practical HR advice across employee relations, absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance and capability matters.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention and employer branding activity.
- Drive employee engagement, culture, wellbeing and inclusion initiatives.
- Support learning, development, performance management and succession planning.
- Manage reward, benefits, salary review and bonus processes.
- Ensure HR policies, contracts, processes and employee records remain compliant and up to date.
- Improve HR systems, reporting and management information to support better decision making.
- Support acquisition integration and help create a more consistent HR approach across the Group.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
