UK Head of Quantum
Reporting into the UK CTO as part of the UK Technology Group, the UK Head of Quantum will establish the UK Quantum function and ensure Fujitsu UK can translate Fujitsu’s global quantum capability into market-relevant services, propositions, and client outcomes.
As the Head, you will be entrusted with building the UK quantum capability from inception, creating the team, governance, delivery approach, and global integration model needed to position Fujitsu as a credible quantum leader in the UK market. Your responsibilities will include:
-
Strategic Leadership: Create and lead the UK Quantum function. Develop and execute a UK quantum strategy aligned to Fujitsu UK priorities, Fujitsu Uvance, the UK Technology Group, and Fujitsu’s global quantum strategy, with a clear value proposition for the UK market.
-
Operating Model Design: Define the UK quantum team operating model, including governance, roles and responsibilities, engagement routes with sectors, bid support, delivery standards, commercial models, assurance processes, and integration points into global Fujitsu teams.
-
Global Integration: Act as the UK point of integration into Fujitsu’s global quantum ecosystem, including Fujitsu Research Japan, Fujitsu Research Europe, global quantum consulting, artificial intelligence teams, quantum software, digital annealing, HPC, and partner-led capabilities.
-
Team Creation & Capability Building: Build and develop a multidisciplinary UK team across quantum consulting, solution architecture, algorithms, quantum-inspired optimisation, HPC, AI integration, business development, and delivery. Working with our FUSION lead, establish communities of practice and capability pathways to grow quantum literacy across Fujitsu UK.
-
Technology Focus & Solution Architecture: Working with the UK Chief Architect, shape architectures and customer solutions across quantum technologies, including superconducting qubits, diamond spin qubits, quantum application research packages, error correction, quantum simulation, Digital Annealer, Monaka/HPC, AI-enabled workflows, and hybrid quantum-classical solution patterns.
-
Client Engagement & Advisory: Work closely with UK sectors and strategic customers to identify high-value quantum use cases, assess readiness, shape roadmaps, and deliver advisory engagements that move clients from awareness and experimentation towards practical adoption. Translate complex physics into business language to bridge the gap in understanding and take both our customers and Fujitsu on the journey.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
