UK IT Programme Manager

**UK IT Programme Manager – DP World

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists within DP World UK’s Information Technology team for a senior UK IT Programme Manager. This is a business-critical role, responsible for the end-to-end governance, coordination and oversight of complex, multi-disciplinary programmes delivering IT solutions across DP World’s terminal operations and strategic objectives.

The UK IT Programme Manager leads portfolio initiatives spanning systems, applications, development, infrastructure, networks, operational technology and cyber security, ensuring programs:

  • Align with business priorities
  • Deliver operationally resilient, secure and cost-effective outcomes
  • Maintain strict adherence to timelines, spend and quality standards

The role spans both DP World London Gateway (Essex) and DP World Southampton, requiring regular cross-site travel to support cross-terminal collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance

  • Set clear programme direction, priorities and delivery structure, managing interdependencies, risks and change across interconnected workstreams.
  • Validate and maintain robust governance artefacts, including:
    • Integrated programme plans
    • RAID logs (Risks, Actions, Issues, Dependencies)
    • Dependency maps
    • Change controls
    • Readiness assessments
    • Cutover strategies
  • Ensure full lifecycle oversight, from discovery and planning through to deployment and post-implementation stabilisation.

Cross-Functional Delivery

  • Coordinate IT teams, operations, engineering and external suppliers to align testing, transition and implementation.
  • Oversee project readiness and secure approvals for go-live before handover, ensuring technical, security and operational standards are met.
  • Monitor programme performance against milestones, budgets and risk thresholds, intervening proactively to resolve blockers.

Testing & Assurance

  • Lead programme-wide testing coordination, including:
    • Functional and UAT tests
    • Performance and resilience assessments
    • Integration validations

Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and delivery partners, ensuring contractual and service obligations are met.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide structured reporting to sponsors, highlighting risks, dependencies and decisions needed.
  • Facilitate alignment between UK terminals, regional IT and Group IT, balancing local priorities with global standards.

Operational Excellence

  • Promote continuous improvement in delivery approaches and infrastructure outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership in secure-by-design delivery, collaborating with Architecture, Cyber Security and Engineering to mitigate risks.

Experience & Expertise

  • Proven track record in delivering large-scale, complex IT programmes in enterprise environments.
  • Specialised knowledge of IT ecosystems including:
    • Systems, applications and infrastructure development
    • Networking and operational technology
    • Cyber security and service delivery
  • Hands-on experience in 24/7 operational/logistics environments (ideal: ports, logistics or critical infrastructure).
  • Technical acumen in high availability, resilience, disaster recovery and integration.
  • Governance discipline (MSP, PRINCE2, PMP or Agile frameworks) and proficiency in managing programme artefacts.

Soft Skills & Mindset

  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing senior leadership and facilitating cross-site decision-making.
  • Delivery-focused mindset with a focus on operational stability, risk control and measurable business outcomes.
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented and results-driven approach.
