An exciting opportunity has arisen within our UK Information Technology team for a UK IT Programme Manager. This is a senior, business-critical role with responsibility for the end-to-end oversight, coordination, and governance of complex, multi-disciplinary IT programmes that support DP World’s terminal operations and strategic objectives.

The UK IT Programme Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of a portfolio of interdependent initiatives spanning systems, applications, development, infrastructure, networks, service delivery, operational technology, and cyber security. The role provides structure, governance, and leadership from early discovery and planning through design, delivery, deployment, and post-implementation stabilisation, ensuring outcomes are operationally resilient, secure, and aligned to business priorities.

The role is accountable for:

  • Programme direction,
  • Dependency management,
  • Risk and issue control,
  • Stakeholder engagement,
  • Supplier performance,
  • Ensuring delivery across DP World London Gateway and DP World Southampton meets agreed scope, cost, timeline, and quality expectations.

The vacancy is a UK role, potentially located at DP World London Gateway (Essex) or DP World Southampton, with regular travel required between the terminals.


How You Will Contribute

  • Provide end-to-end leadership and governance for a UK IT programme portfolio, ensuring initiatives across:
    • Systems
    • Applications
    • Infrastructure
    • Networking
    • Cybersecurity
    • Service delivery are aligned to business objectives.
  • Set clear programme direction, priorities, and delivery structure, managing:
    • Interdependencies
    • Risks
    • Issues
    • Change across multiple workstreams.
  • Oversee the full programme lifecycle, including:
    • Discovery
    • Requirements definition
    • Planning
    • Design and architecture approvals
    • Delivery
    • Testing
    • Deployment
    • Benefits realisation.
  • Maintain robust programme governance artefacts, including:
    • Integrated plans
    • RAID logs
    • Dependency maps
    • Change controls
    • Readiness assessments
    • Cutover plans.
  • Coordinate delivery across:
    • IT teams
    • Operations
    • Engineering functions
    • External suppliers to ensure cohesive planning, testing, transition, and implementation.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to:
    • Technical standards
    • Security standards
    • Operational readiness standards before go-live and handover to BAU.
  • Monitor programme performance against:
    • Agreed milestones
    • Budgets
    • Quality and risk thresholds
  • Lead programme-wide testing coordination, including:
    • Functional
    • User Acceptance (UAT)
    • Performance
    • Resilience
    • Integration testing
  • Support secure-by-design delivery by collaborating with:
    • Architecture teams
    • Cyber Security teams
    • Engineering functions
  • Manage third-party vendors and delivery partners, ensuring:
    • Accountability for outcomes
    • Adherence to contractual and service obligations.
  • Provide regular, clear, and structured programme reporting to:
    • Sponsors
    • Senior leadership
  • Highlight:
    • Progress
    • Risks
    • Dependencies
    • Required decisions.
  • Build relationships across:
    • UK terminals
    • Regional IT teams
    • Group IT
  • Ensure alignment with wider organisational initiatives and standards.
  • Promote continuous improvement by optimising:
    • Delivery approaches
    • Infrastructure outcomes
    • Operational readiness.

What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience delivering:
    • Large-scale, multi-disciplinary IT programmes
    • Within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in overseeing initiatives across:
    • Systems
    • Applications
    • Development
    • Infrastructure
    • Networking
    • Cyber security
    • Service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Manage multiple teams
    • Suppliers
    • Interdependencies across parallel workstreams.
  • Experience operating in:
    • Operational or service-led environments
    • Preferably within 24/7 industries such as:
      • Ports
      • Logistics
      • Critical infrastructure.
  • Broad technical understanding of:
    • High availability
    • Resilience
    • Disaster recovery
    • Integration
    • Security
    • Service transition
    • The capability to challenge and assure design decisions.
  • Strong governance, planning, and delivery discipline, with skills in:
    • Producing and managing:
      • Programme artefacts
      • Reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including:
    • Ability to influence and facilitate decisions at senior leadership level.
  • Experience working within:
    • Structured delivery frameworks (e.g., MSP, PRINCE², PMP, Agile, or equivalent).
  • A collaborative, delivery-focused mindset with emphasis on:
    • Operational stability
    • Risk management
    • Measurable business outcomes.
