About Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA)
Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA) is a leading alternative investment asset manager within the Pictet Group, specialising in private equity, real estate, private credit, and hedge funds.
- Currently manages €50bn+ in Alternatives AUM
- €25bn+ in Private Equity AUM
- Launched its first direct private equity fund in 2023, focused on UK/DACH mid-market buyouts (B2B Services, Education & Training, and Industrials)
- Raised €430m for the fund
Origination Opportunities: You’ll be part of a team of 13 professionals supporting an operational fund. A critical expansion phase, we are seeking an Origination Professional to develop the UK lower mid-market (£2–10m EBITDA) portfolio pipeline.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will generate a high-quality, proprietary acquisition pipeline through direct founder engagement, intermediary coverage, and origination tech innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Thematic Origination
- Execute structured mapping of businesses within targeted sub-sectors (aligned to fund themes)
- Run multi-channel outreach to founder-led owner-managed businesses
- Conduct in-person meetings across the UK, qualifying opportunities and nurturing relations via CRM
- Evaluate and implement origination tech tools to enhance sourcing scalability

Adviser & Intermediary Coverage
- Build and maintain relationships with regional advisers, boutique corporate finance warranties, and deal coders active in exits for owner-managed businesses
- Travel across UK regions to position the fund for upcoming sale mandates, ensuring top-of-mind awareness
Candidate Profile
Education
- University degree from a strong institution (subject unrelated to financials is acceptable)
- Focused on cultivating driven, judgement-led, origination expertise
Experience
- 7–10 years total experience, including:
- 2–5 years in UK-centric roles requiring direct contact with business owners/senior decision-makers
- Essential: Origination, business development, or cold-outreach background
- Prefer: Direct private equity origination or mid-market corporate finance advisory experience
Competencies
- High origination energy – self-starter, active, resilient in cold outreach and UK travel
- Relation’s natural talent: Earns trust quickly with founders, demonstrating maturity and commercial acumen
- Tech fluency: Proficient in CRM platforms, AI tools, and outreach platforms with a curious mentality
- Aptitude in candour and discretion when handling sensitive founder/mediary discussions
