BAM UK & Ireland are recruiting a UK & I Data Director to lead their Finance team from any UK office on a hybrid basis (3 days per week in the office).
This is a senior role focused on shaping data strategy, governance, management, and utilisation for the UK & Ireland division. The UK & I Data Director will transform data into a valued company asset, responsible for recommending process and technology optimisations aligned with BAM governance procedures.
This is a critical function—making possible the ability to drive enterprise-wide data strategies for a major infrastructure contractor. The role ensures that data:
- Supports project delivery
- Enhances financial performance
- Guarantees regulatory compliance
- Integrates project, cost, safety, people, and environmental data for informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
As the UK & I Data Director, your focus will be on datal governance, strategy, and analytics across a major infrastructure sector. This position will oversee:

Strategic Leadership
- Lead the enterprise data strategy, governance, and analytics for BAM UK & Ireland.
- Ensure data models support project delivery success, financial performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Transform traditional data workflows into data-driven insights for better decision-making.

Project & Process Optimisation
- Integrate project, finance, procurement, and asset data across corporate structures.
- Establish data-first standards for cost control, forecasting, and performance management.
- Embed automation and analytics into project controls and asset lifecycle management.

Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
- Ensure adherence to UK and EU data standards, including:
- GDPR
- ISO 19650 (BIM – Built Environment Model)
- EU Taxonomy
- CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive)
- National infrastructure digital frameworks
- Support safety, environmental, and financial reporting rigor.

Qualifications & Requirements
Academic Background
A relevant degree in:
- Data Science
- Civil Engineering
- Construction Management
- Business (Master of Science/MBA preferred)
Continuous professional development and strong subject-specific expertise is optional but highly valued.
Professional Experience
Proven track record in:

Data Leadership & Transformation:
- Previous leadership roles in process or data transformation projects.
- Hands-on experience managing and leading teams in:
- Data management
- Reporting & analytics
- Evidence of developing and implementing enterprise-wide digital/strategy initiatives in construction/infrastructure, with measurable outcomes.

Construction & Infrastructure Sector:
- Strong understanding of tracked systems and ways data can deliver improvements for project delivery, cost, and efficiency.

Standards & Compliance:
- Deep knowledge of UK/EU regulations related to infrastructure and data:
- Investment compliance (financial/operational)
- Environmental, safety, and disclosure requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 19600) in data workflows.
- Deep knowledge of UK/EU regulations related to infrastructure and data:
Industry Expertise & Skills
- Data Management:
- Technical and processual changes needed to merge data flows and support business growth in a complex, multi-national context.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Works closely with executives, project managers, finance, engineers, and IT teams to align data strategies with our delivery and financial objectives.
- Flexible to support at all levels as required.
- Change Management:
- Joyfully champions business process, including BIM, data governance, cross-system integration (IoT, cloud analytics execution), and AI applications.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Embeds a data-first culture by upskilling collaborators on tools and analytics.
- Works closely with senior management, specifically the COO, ED Finance, and IT Director, on:
- Data strategy
- ROI for digital initiatives
- Performance management—driven by evidence-based insights.
- Influences collaboration frameworks with clients and partners to align on data standards.
- Translation & Clarity:
- Develops and communicates clear, high-level insights through data visualisation, dashboards, and storytelling.
- Tailors narratives for a dispersed, multidisciplinary workforce.
- Cross-Org & Ecosystem Partnerships:
- Collaborates with technology vendors, joint ventures, and clients to ensure seamless interoperability and value exchange across the construction sector.
