Overall Purpose

The UKVI Compliance Officer (Post Enrolment) is responsible for ensuring that the institution maintains strict compliance with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations, particularly with regard to post-enrolment processes. This role supports the UKVI Compliance Supervisor by monitoring compliance activities, coordinating audits, implementing day-to-day UKVI processes, and ensuring staff are aware of regulatory obligations.

Roles and Responsibilities

UKVI Compliance

  • Carry out UKVI compliance duties including attendance monitoring, engagement checks, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records in line with UKVI requirements.
  • Support routine compliance checks by ensuring records and data are correct.
  • Follow set procedures and ensure all compliance documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Respond to basic UKVI compliance queries and escalate issues where necessary to the UKVI Compliance Supervisor.
  • Serve as first-line liaison on routine UKVI matters; escalate complex strategic issues to the UKVI Compliance Supervisor.
  • Deliver staff guidance / briefings so all teams remain aware of UKVI obligations and consistent practice.
  • Identify and report potential compliance risks to the UKVI Compliance Supervisor.
  • Support actions taken to address compliance concerns.
  • Assist in gathering information for internal audits and UKVI inspections.

Person Specification

Experience & Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong, current knowledge of UKVI regulations and post-enrolment compliance processes.
  • Demonstrable experience in a compliance/audit/regulatory role, preferably in higher education.
  • Proven experience supervising or leading a small operational team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to interpret regulations and translate into clear procedures.
  • Confident communicator, able to brief staff and collaborate across functions.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and producing management reports.

Desirable

  • Experience conducting internal audits / assurance and managing remediation plans.
  • Familiarity with student records/compliance systems and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of data privacy/security good practice in compliance contexts.
