Responsibilities
- Assesses consultation requests, ensuring special physician instructions are followed and consults Radiologists when needed.
- Completes all departmental processes for exam results and documentation.
- Greets patients, verifies their identification, and explains examination procedures.
- Demonstrates proficiency on all Ultrasound department equipment.
- Conducts routine diagnostic and ultrasound procedures per protocols, including US-guided biopsies/drainages.
- Ensures patient consent for procedures contains accurate details on risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up.
- Verifies exam prerequisites are fulfilled before appointments. Evaluates lab values required for interventional procedures.
- Organises supplies for Ultrasound, tracks shortages, and orders replacements.
- Performs daily safety inspections and quality assurance tests on ultrasound equipment and resolves issues.
- Evaluates scan quality, ensuring proper anatomic positioning.
For patient access:
- Adds on exams where possible, or finds alternatives when unavailable.
- Validates correct order entry and supply charge accurate.

Maintains:
- Joint Commission and ACR accreditation standards.
- ePAC forms and patient information.
- Code of Conduct adherence.
In emergencies:
- Recognises code situations and administers first aid/CPR as needed.
Qualifications
Experience
One year of on-site hospital experience preferred. Ability to lift patients up to 50 lbs.
Competencies & Skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Patient/team confidentiality
- Crisis resilience
- Customer service (for patients, team, and visitors)
- Experience with Electronic Health Records
Credentials
- ARDMS-RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
Education
- Associates degree in a related healthcare field (required).
No-degree entry range: USD $31.83/hr. Max-range compensation: USD $49.34/hr.
