📢 Role: MBBS Undergraduate Specialty Lead for Gastroenterology

About the Role

City St George’s is seeking an enthusiastic Clinician-Educator to take on the role of MBBS Undergraduate Specialty Lead for Gastroenterology. In this position, you will:

  • Oversee, design, and deliver teaching on gastroenterology and nutrition for the MBBS programme, from Year 1 to Finals Year (F Year), including clinical content on the virtual learning environment (Canvas).
  • Provide specialty-specific teaching leadership, ensuring a clear, coherent, and transparent student learning journey in alignment with the MBBS curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, delegate, and oversee clinical teaching across all 1–F years of the curriculum.
  • Act as the specialty-specific academic and clinical resource for:
    • The MBBS team
    • Placement leads
    • Core Specialty Leads
    • Clinical education leads on gastroenterology and nutrition teaching content and stage-appropriate clinical learning outcomes.
  • Ensure the highest quality of clinical teaching materials on the VLE, updating content before each academic year and incorporating in-year revisions.
  • Contribute to and align clinical learning outcomes for the subspecialty.
  • Review student feedback and evaluations, addressing concerns and offering constructive support to colleagues.
  • Support (directly and indirectly) summative assessments.
  • Uphold and develop teaching skills, including the pursuit of medical education training and assessment qualifications.

Essential Requirements

This role suits a consultant or career-grade clinician in gastroenterology and nutrition, with:

  • Current knowledge of the MBBS curriculum
  • Experience in undergraduate teaching
  • An eagerness for specialty-specific educational leadership
